«Introduction to Clean Development Mechanism» (Russian) This reference book addresses the issues related to Clean Development Mechanism. The book presents the information explaining what is the CDM and its institutions, how one can participate in CDM projects, how carbon markets work, which mechanisms are used in financing of CDM projects. The special attention is paid to the project cycle and preparation of the documentation required for CDM projects. The book’s addendum provides for a detailed glossary and a list of CDM-related web-sites, including carbon funds.

«Guidelines on Development of CDM Projects» (Russian)
The proposed “Guidelines on Development of CDM Projects” is intended for the technical experts participating in the preparation of the project design documentation for CDM projects. The Guidelines pay most attention to the development of a baseline and monitoring plan of CDM projects, as well as demonstration of complementarity and estimation of greenhouse gases emission. The special chapter was dedicated to small scale project activity. The description is accompanied by pictures, graphs, schemes and tables for better understanding. The addendum provides for a list of methodologies approved by the Executive Board on Clean Development Mechanism as of end of February 2006, as well as web links of the most important documents and a glossary of CDM terms.

«CDM - Frequently Asked Questions» (Russian) The number of books, booklets, various guidelines on Clean Development Mechanism has been increasing from year to year. At the same time, the specific CDM slang has been emerging, which is not always clear to professionals getting started the work in the field of CDM. Besides that, the major part of all publications on CDM has been produced in English and, therefore, not easily accessible to the audience unfamiliar with English. The writings in Russian are published in small number of copies and as a rule distributed among the close circle of specialists. The present reference book is intended to answer the most frequently asked questions relevant to Clean Development Mechanism.

The chapter “Formation of the Portfolio of CDM Projects in Uzbekistan” provides for a meaningful description of the major economy sectors of Uzbekistan, which are of high priority for implementation of CDM projects owing to introduction of energy and resource saving technologies in oil and gas, chemical, municipal industries, as well as in electrical power sector. The special chapter covers the potential of employment of renewable energy sources. The chapter “Normative-Legislative Basis for Clean Development Mechanism in Uzbekistan” informs on the adopted fundamental legislative acts for practical realization of environmental and energy-saving projects in the country’s economy sectors in the framework of CDM.

«Equal Exchange: Determining a Fair Price for Carbon» The rapid pace of the global carbon market's development requires from the CDM project proponents a clear understanding of carbon price dynamics, specific peculiarities of sharing risks in CDM project implementation, motivations of individual actors in CDM market, as well as post-Kyoto perspectives. In spite of the abundance of carbon market publications, a considerable number of potential users is still unfamiliar to this information. One of the reasons is the language barrier, as far as the applied terminology is often unclear even to professional translators. The presented translation of the book “Equal Exchange: Determining a Fair Price for Carbon” is an attempt to fill in this gap for the Russian-speaking audience.

The publication “Negotiation on Carbon Contracts” tries to explain what Emission Reduction Purchase Agreement (ERPA) is, and what one should keep in mind when negotiating ERPAs. A separate section covers risks faced by parties of a project implemented in the framework of CDM. The book is a continuation of publications in Russian that popularize issues of carbon finance.

«Uzbekistan: Climate Change and Implementation of Clean Development Mechanism of Kyoto Protocol» Observing how tragic events of the Aral Sea basin unfolded, people and governments of all countries of the world managed clearly outline the realities of environmental catastrophe of a specific region caused by the global scale processes deteriorated by irrational and unwise human activities. We owe to the future generations and must act immediately and decisively in order to halt dangerous climate changes. Uzbekistan is already a leader in the Central Asian region by its institutional readiness for implementation of CDM projects and capacity for reducing greenhouse gas emissions. This once again underscores serious attention given by the Government of Uzbekistan to the opportunities provided by the Clean Development Mechanism to conduct energy efficiency policies and improve environmental situation.
