Training Workshop on Implementation of Programmatic CDM Project in Uzbekistan

On July 22, 2009 the UNDP project “Capacity Building for Clean Development Mechanism in Uzbekistan” conducted a training workshop with the participation of an international consultant Vladislav Arnaoudov.
Vladislav Arnaoudov is a Senior Consultant of Mitsubishi UFJ Securities, a world leading carbon consulting company. The first visit of V. Arnaoudov was in October 2008, which was dedicated to training on developing biogas CDM projects. The focus of the present training was on programmatic CDM projects.  Mitsubishi UFJ Securities company has collected a valued experience in the field of programmatic CDM projects and participated in development of such CDM projects in South East Asia.
The training workshop “Implementation of Programmatic CDM Project in Uzbekistan” took place in UNDP Conference hall and concerned the following matters:
- international approval procedures of programmatic CDM projects;
- assessment of the potential of programmatic CDM projects in Uzbekistan, and
- barriers to implementation of programmatic CDM projects and overcoming of those.
Besides, the Consultant provided a case study on how to develop documents of programmatic CDM projects based on a proposal on introduction of solar collectors for hot water supply in Tashkent.
The target audience consisted of technical specialists of national agencies and companies – potential participants of programmatic CDM project development and implementation. They represented JSC “Uztransgas”,  SJSC “Uzkimyosanoat”, SJSC “Uzbekenergo”, SU “Uzsuvenergo”, SUE “Tashshaharnur”, designing institutions OJSC “Teploelectroproect” and OJSC “UzLITIneftgas”, as well as agency “Uzkommunkhizmat”, Association of farmers, companies “Kurilish Service, Ltd.”, “Sof-energia” and “Tricorona AB”.
